Dental Filling Procedures at our Yorkville and Scarborough Dental Clinics
Liberty Square Dental Group are honoured that you are considering our office for your dental needs. We are a family dentistry clinic with offices in Yorkville and Scarborough, serving patients of all ages.
A dental filling is a common dental procedure at our dental office, used to repair and restore teeth that have been damaged by decay or cavities. It involves removing the decayed portion of the tooth and filling the resulting space with a dental material to restore the tooth’s shape and function.
When is a filling needed?
A filling may be required if you have tooth decay which is when bacteria in the mouth produces acids that erode the tooth enamel. If the decay is caught in the early stages and hasn’t reached the inner layers of the tooth, a dental filling can be used to remove the decayed area and restore the tooth.
Chipped or worn teeth
Teeth can become chipped or worn due to various factors, such as teeth grinding (bruxism), trauma, or biting on hard objects. Dental fillings can be used to repair minor chips or restore the worn surfaces of the teeth.
The dental filling procedure
During a dental filling procedure, our Toronto dentist will numb the area surrounding the tooth with a local anesthetic. They will then remove the decayed or damaged portion of the tooth. After the removal, the cavity is cleaned, and the dental filling material is placed and shaped to match the natural contours of the tooth. The filling material is then hardened and polished to provide a smooth surface.
The dental staff at our Toronto dental office and Scarborough clinic take the utmost care with our patients to ensure that they remain calm, relaxed and at ease during any procedure.
