Teeth Grinding (Bruxism) Treatment at our Toronto (Yorkville) and Scarborough Dental Clinics
Are you waking up with a sore jaw? Are you unable to open your jaw wide or are experiencing a locked jaw, or a migraine headache?
Teeth grinding is clinically referred to as Bruxism. It is the act of clenching your teeth either during the day or while you sleep. Bruxism affects both the teeth and all the structures near it, including your head.
What are the symptoms from Bruxism?
- Headache or earache
- Jaw clicking
- Sore jaw
- Facial pain
- Sensitive teeth
- Frequent toothaches
If you think that you may be experiencing bruxism (teeth grinding), schedule a consultation with either one of our Toronto dental offices.
How do our Toronto dental clinics treat teeth grinding?
Our dentists can create an appliance to wear at night, called a nightguard, to help protect your teeth from the strains of grinding. Our Scarborough and Yorkville dentists will create a customized mouth night guard for tooth and enamel protection.
Night guards are typically made of plastic or acrylic and can be hard or soft. They are custom made mouth guards that can be worn on the upper or lower arch at night when you are sleeping to help protect your teeth.
